Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Vanilla Planifolia, Palmarosa, Tangerine, Clove Bud, Cassia, Black Pepper, Natural Triethyl Citrate, Featuring an untreated wooden wick

Essential oil candles have a very light scent when burned and cannot be compared with a traditional fragrance candle. Please do not expect it to fill a room with scent. Our candles are ideal for individuals with sensitivities to fragrances and chemicals, those seeking to steer clear of potential toxins, and those yearning for the traditional candle ambiance with a more subtle scent

Our 9 oz fl jar has a net weight of 7.49 oz, and a burn time of 35-40 hours.

Properly burning your candle for the first time is crucial: Ensure that the melted wax reaches the edge of the container by allowing it to burn for approximately 2 to 3+ hours in our 10 oz candle. This simple step sets the foundation for an optimal candle-burning experience.

Are there specific burning instructions for this candle?

Yes, the wooden wick does require a little extra care to ensure the perfect burn. When your candle arrives, the wick will already be trimmed to the proper length. The first burn is especially important. Allow the candle to burn until the melted wax reaches the edge of the vessel. For our 9 oz candle, this typically takes 2–3 hours. Allowing a full melt pool on the first burn prevents tunneling along the sides of the jar. Limit each burn to about 3–4 hours to prevent the jar and wax from overheating.

The wooden wick will also need to be trimmed between burns. This can be done without any tools. Just pinch off the charred portion of the wick with your fingers before relighting.

Once the metal wick clip is visible at the bottom of the vessel, the candle has reached the end of its burn life. The remaining ½ inch of wax helps protect the jar from overheating during the final burn.

Why can’t essential oils fill a room with scent?

Essential oils are extremely flammable so we are limited to how much oil we can use to scent our candles. Without the chemicals used in traditional fragrances, it is nearly impossible to make an essential oil candle that is as strong as a fragrance oil candle.

If you’re used to synthetic fragrances or are new to essential oil candles, your sense of smell may initially find essential oil aromas to be subtler. Synthetic candles condition our noses to expect strong scent throws, but once your sense of smell adjusts, the delicate and natural aroma of essential oils becomes much more noticeable.

How do we know the candle is as clean as you claim? What is MADE SAFE?

Fontana is proud to offer 100% ingredient transparency, with every ingredient listed directly on the label—something that’s rare in the candle industry. This gives customers the ability to make informed choices about what they bring into their homes and what’s best for their families.

Fontana was the first MADE SAFE Certified candle on the market. The MADE SAFE® seal confirms that a household product is free of any and all toxins known or suspected to harm human health, animals, or ecosystems. Certified goods have been thoroughly examined by researchers and scientists to ensure they’re made without known behavioral toxins, carcinogens, developmental toxins, endocrine disruptors, flame retardants, heavy metals, neurotoxins, high risk pesticides, reproductive toxins, toxic solvents, or harmful VOCs. MADE SAFE is currently the most rigorous testing available to the non-toxic candle industry.

Are your candles safe for pets?

We recommend talking with a vet before introducing any new substances, especially essential oils into your home! We believe in using simple, natural ingredients that are third-party certified for human health. However, we are animal lovers and regularly burn our candles at home around our pets. The concentrations of oils in the candles are low enough that they do not cause issues. We also offer 100% ingredient transparency, so if there are certain essential oils you are looking to avoid, you can absolutely do so by checking the ingredient lists on our website or labels!

However, please ensure that your pet is not able to ingest our products. We also recommend allowing your pet to freely leave the space where you are burning essential oil-based candles.

Does the candle have an expiration date?

Because we do not use any preservatives in our candles, we highly suggest a shelf life of about a year. The candle itself will not expire, but the burn quality does degrade after a year. We only guarantee the burn of a candle up to a year, based on the date of your purchase.

My wick won’t stay lit, what should I do?

The first step is to confirm that the burn instructions are being followed and that the wick is trimmed between burns. An untrimmed wick may not light or may fail to hold a flame. If the wick has been trimmed properly and still will not stay lit, a photo or video is required to help determine whether it’s a defect.
If a true defect is identified, Fontana will replace the candle and reship it to the customer. Because our wicks are completely natural, each one can perform a little differently, and the occasional faulty wick is to be expected.
Please have your customer reach out to our Customer Care team directly at customer@fontanacandlecompany.com to begin the defect resolution process.

WHAT IS PROPOLIS?

Propolis is the defender of the hive. Bees use it to line the walls and keep germs out. We use it to support our immune systems, soothe scratchy throats, combat free radical damage in the body, and feed the good bacteria in our gut.

Sustainable Beekeeping

We’re dedicated to developing a sustainable supply of propolis that honors the bees, the environment, and our consumers. Every apiary we work with is required to adhere to our Quality Protocol, designed to prioritize the health of the bees.

Ensuring the production area is free from pesticides

Leaving enough honey and pollen for the bees and avoiding artificial feeding

Building hives with sustainable, recyclable, and natural materials

Avoiding any form of genetic modification

Keeping hives free from chemical residues

ASK US ANYTHING.

We love to talk about sourcing. All of our products come from remote apiaries located far from harmful chemicals, including locations in Canada, Europe, and South America. We work with our apiary partners to ensure that our bee products are sustainably-sourced and of the highest quality. We always put the health of the bees first.

Every third bite of food you eat comes from the bees. Without them, we’d lose apples, almonds, cucumbers, blueberries, broccoli, cauliflower, and more if the bees disappear. And that’s just one of the many consequences of losing our buzzing yellow friends.

There is rarely a correlation between allergies to bee stings (bee venom) and bee products. However, we always recommend consulting with a health professional in situations like this. Your safety is our number-one priority.

Our products are not certified organic, but we do third-party test all of our formulas for pesticides and heavy metals to ensure that we only bottle the very best ingredients.

Because bees fly and forage from areas far outside the certified organic radius, this certification doesn't have the same importance when you’re buying bee products as it does when you’re buying produce. What’s more, most small, sustainable beekeepers can't afford the certification process. The larger, commercial beekeepers who can pay for the certification don’t always practice sustainable beekeeping or treat their bees like family (as we do). Consider that food for thought next time you’re buying honey or clean medicines made with honey.

We have many parents in our community who love our products and find them beneficial throughout their motherhood journey. That said, everyone is different and as with most supplements, we recommend consulting your healthcare professional before taking any of our products during pregnancy or when breastfeeding.
